Offering Addresses the Growing Need for Large-Scale Analytics, Data Mart Consolidation and Large-Scale Data Warehousing
SAN MATEO, Calif., April 1 -- Greenplum Software, the pioneer of Enterprise Data Cloud(TM) solutions for large-scale data warehousing and analytics, today announced it has jointly developed a solution that pairs Greenplum's Enterprise Data Cloud platform with Dell's PowerEdge C2100 servers. Designed to capture, organize and manage massive amounts of data generated by global organizations today, the "best of breed" offering represents the industry's leading combination of scalability, power, and space and cost efficiencies, company executives said.
With organizations' datasets ballooning to petabyte proportions, technology consulting firm Gartner has ranked the $30 billion business intelligence/data warehousing market a top priority for chief information officers. Based on the Greenplum Database, the Greenplum Enterprise Data Cloud solution is a software-based platform that enables users to create and manage any number of data warehouses and data marts that can be deployed across a common pool of physical, virtual or public cloud infrastructure. Key features of the platform include self-service provisioning, the ability to manage data on a massive scale and dynamically expand system capacity, and a highly optimized parallel database core.
Bundled with the Dell PowerEdge C2100 server, the solution excels at large-scale warehousing and data mart consolidation. A cluster of Dell PowerEdge C2100 servers running Greenplum operates as a single database supercomputer, automatically partitioning and parallelizing queries, to achieve performance that is tens or hundreds of times faster than traditional database platforms. For additional capacity, organizations can scale out cost effectively by simply adding servers. With linear scalability, performance remains lightning quick even as data volumes grow to petabyte levels.
