ActiveTrak Inc. Closes First Round of Funding, Accelerates Enterprise & Mobile Development
PORTLAND, Ore., March 9 -- Mobile endpoint security innovator ActiveTrak Inc. announced its first round of funding. The round is led by strategic investor ProtectCell, a leader in mobile phone warranty and handset protection, based in Michigan. The investment provides ActiveTrak Inc. capital to accelerate development of its enterprise and mobile security solutions, as well as provide ActiveTrak with direct distribution through 1,300 wireless retailers at the point-of-sale and other sales channels and opportunities.
"This is a perfect fit, as a technology company the funding allows us to accelerate development of our enterprise and mobile solutions and provides a distribution point for our new mobile software at the point-of-sale," stated ActiveTrak's founder and CEO Ken Westin.
Since 2007, ActiveTrak Inc. has been reuniting lost or stolen laptops, mobile phones, and portable media devices with their rightful owners who installed the company's GadgetTrak© software. The software utilizes features on mobile devices such as cameras and Internet connectivity to apply multiple layers of security that protect sensitive data and locate missing devices. With a number of documented recoveries, and successes, the company has been developing an enterprise solution that provides corporations with a way to mass deploy the software across all the devices on their network, and new features for data protection. The platform also provides easy integration for vendors wishing to offer the technology to their own customers, either online, or at the point-of-sale.
